Introducing Me

Hi everyone! My name is Tiffany Miller and I'm at my first semester in Health Sciences at Vanier. I am a new member of the team and look forward to writing articles on this blog page.

I joined the Vanier First Aid Team because I am very passionate about the medical field and helping others. I feel that writing and informing other's about first aid gives me a great opportunity to feel what this might entail. This is a great opportunity for me as well to learn and gain more knowledge to be a more skilled health care provider. My dream is to become a pediatric cardiologist. The way the heart functions and it's relation to the rest of the body is really fascinating for me.

Here are some first aid tips:

- Always apply direct pressure on a bleeding wound to help prevent the injured person from losing too much blood

- When you have a burn, apply cold compress to the area along with antibiotic cream to reduce the risk of infection.

- Always wash your hands before treating a wound so you don't get bacteria in the cut causing a infection

- When treating a sprain, apply ice and compression in intervals and keep the limb elevated

-To treat a heat-stoke, use cool fluids, cool cloths and shade

I hope you enjoyed my first post apart of the Vanier First Aid Team and hope everyone is staying safe during these difficult times. I can't wait to share more first aid tips!!
